Our newest AUV Timi is built in 100 days
What happens when you decide to build an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle from the ground up — and give yourself just 100 days?
This video captures the journey of TIMI – the AUV, developed at MAV LAB-IITM, Department of Ocean Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras
From the initial design and system architecture to mechanical fabrication, electronics integration, software, waterproofing, testing and finally getting the vehicle into the water — every stage came with its own set of challenges.
Building an underwater robot is never just about making individual systems work. It is about making mechanical, electrical, software and underwater systems work together reliably in an environment where you don’t get a second chance to see what went wrong.
And that’s what made the 100-day journey special.
